Strategic Planning for Small Businesses event set for March 4

AUBURN, Ala.- The City of Auburn will host its next START IN AUBURN entrepreneurial event, Strategic Planning for Small Businesses, on March 4. A strategic plan is crucial for businesses, especially in challenging and unprecedented times like those we are currently experiencing. Dr. LaKami Baker will provide insight and guidance to develop a strategic plan to help businesses grow.

The virtual event will begin at noon via Zoom and will last one hour, including time for Q&A. Those interested in attending can register online by Feb. 28. For more information, contact 334-501-7377 or [email protected].

This seminar is part of the City of Auburn’s Economic Development program to support startups in Auburn. However, any local small businesses may find it beneficial. All are invited.

About the Speaker
Baker is an associate professor in Auburn University’s Department of Management and holds the Russell Foundation Professorship in Entrepreneurial Studies in the Harbert College of Business. She previously served as the managing director of the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship and most recently served as the interim executive director of the Government & Economic Development Institute (GEDI) in University Outreach.

Baker is focused on helping drive and support economic development and entrepreneurship growth initiatives across the state of Alabama. She has guided students, faculty and community entrepreneurs to creatively generate business ideas, refine their plans to maximize success potential and prepared them to pitch in front of judges and investors. Baker teaches courses in strategy and technology commercialization at the MBA and executive levels. She is certified to provide training, coaching and mentoring on the lean startup methodologies, value proposition design and creating and developing sustainable business models by the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) and earned her Business Incubation Management (BIM) Certificate from InBIA. The BIM Certificate is the premier industry credential for the staff of incubators, accelerators, coworking spaces, small business development centers and other entrepreneurship programs.
